Housekeeping
Working under the direction of the Rooms department, and headed by our Director of Housekeeping, Michael Skinner, our hard-working and detail-oriented Housekeeping team is responsible for the cleanliness and the aesthetic standards of the hotel. A close liaison between housekeeping and front office is essential so that the information about a guest- rooms are kept up to date. What they do best is ensure personal touches are always included in their immaculately cleaned rooms.
Conference Services
Fairmont Empress’ highly creative and innovative Conference Services department perform a vast range of different tasks and take responsibility for the success of meetings, weddings and special events of all sizes. Working closely with the Sales and Food & Beverage team, these exciting roles require stamina, commitment and well-rounded understanding of the industry
Sales & Revenue Management
Our fast-paced Sales team is responsible for prospecting corporate and leisure groups, as well as conferences and other events that draw larger groups to the hotel. Revenue management involves maximizing the revenue that comes into a hotel and optimizing financial results. This is primarily achieved by taking a strategic approach to distribution, ensuring that hotel rooms are sold to the right guest, for the ideal price, at the right time, through the best possible channel.
Food & Beverage
With our signature Q Restaurant, Bar and Veranda, as our year-round dining venues to our distinctive and legendary Afternoon Teas service at the Fairmont Empress, along with seasonal outdoor restaurants and In-Room dining , our dedicated Food and Beverage team are our ambassadors known for their warm, engaging service and creating memorable dining experiences. From casual options to fine dining and full service banquet events, our fast-paced Food and Beverage team thrives on creativity, attention to detail and exceptional customer service.
Rooms
From the moment our guests walk through the door of the Castle on the Coast, our warm and welcoming Rooms department create a lasting impression for our guests. A department devoted to handling guests' needs and providing a smooth and comfortable stay. The rooms department handles everything from taking a guest's reservation to preparing their room and getting the guest checked in for the night. our dedicated Rooms department is comprised of the following departments;

Culinary
Under the expertise and innovation of our Executive Chef, Morgan Wilson, our dedicated culinary team is made up from some of Fairmont’s most talented and creative chefs. Known for their unique dishes, seasonal creations and use of local, sustainable ingredients, our Culinary department prepares menus for leisure guests, events, tour groups and more! They are especially proud of our long standing reputation and history of the Fairmont Empress Afternoon Tea prepared by our Talented Pastry Team.

Marketing & Communications
Fairmont Empress marketing & communications team is responsible for leading the development and implementation of our marketing, social media and communication activities. This encompasses a variety of promotional channels including online presence, social media, advertising and public relations. They play a key role in ensuring our guests are learning about the unique hospitality experience that Fairmont Empress creates, curates and facilitates. They set the stage to tell stories about amazing Fairmont experiences that appeal our travelers.
Willow Stream Spa
The Willow Steam Spa team is responsible for the entire guest journey, from the time the guests makes the booking and is followed through on arrival, treatment and post treatment. Their approach to service ensures the guest is comfortable at all times and communication is consistent and clear. They create a sanctuary for our guests and guide them through a spa experience customized to their needs. The team measures success by the level of positive energy in the spa.
Accounting & Finance
Managing all aspects of a hotel’s finances, from processing payroll to reconciling income and expenses, paying taxes and creating reports for management. In addition to strong financial management and sound judgment, our accounting and finance team are equipped with the skills to track down discrepancies and investigate the story behind the numbers.
Reservations
Working closely with our Sales and Marketing team, our Reservations department is responsible for processing all guest bookings for leisure travelers, tour groups and large group bookings, while providing each guest with the warm and thoughtful service that we at Fairmont Empress are known for.
Talent & Culture
Our dedicated Talent and Culture team is a culture of caring – caring for each other, our guests and our communities. Gardener’s & Maintenance
Victoria is known as the City of Gardens and we take ours seriously! The responsibility of a gardener is to maintain the beauty of plants, outdoor grounds, and trees in a garden. They perform a range of general maintenance tasks including designing, producing, renewing and preserving outside spaces. Our maintenance workers are well-rounded, and keep this 113 year old hotel running! They offer preventative maintenance and repairs to all areas of the hotel, including its exterior, heating and cooling systems, plumbing, electrical systems, floors, walls and furniture. This exciting career can be a good fit if you are a jack-of-all-trades and enjoy doing something new each day on the job.
